On Oct. 19, area residents will have the opportunity to become a "superhero" for local children in foster care.
The second annual Piedmont CASA Superhero Run benefits the Piedmont Court Appointed
Special Advocates program by providing training and education for volunteers who work with the Juvenile Court in helping local children in the foster care system. Piedmont CASA is a non-profit that relies on local donations, fundraisers and grants to provide services.
To register, visit www.active.com. Those who register online will be guaranteed a t-shirt at the end of the race. Onsite registration will begin at 1 p.m. on Oct. 19 at Fort Yargo. The family fun 1K run is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m., followed by the 5K at 2:30 p.m.
Race participants can run in a superhero outfit to take part in the contest for best superhero. The contest will be held after the race and awards for the best child, teen and adult costumes will be presented. The top three finishers in the men's and women's races will also be recognized.
