April 27, 1939: A First

A new plant opened in Winder.

A new plant opened in Winder, according to an article in The Winder News on April 27, 1939. The Chenille Products Company was the first company in the city to produce chenille bedspreads. About 30 machines were put into place and operators were being trained on making the spreads. The company was located on Broad Street.
