On Jan. 14, 2014, at approximately 7:28 p.m. officers responded to Vandiver Hall after University of Georgia Residence Life personnel asked them to check on a student, according to a UGA press release.

Officers arrived and were directed to a fifth floor suite. Officers entered the suite and attempted to contact UGA student David Peacock Braun, 21, the person in question. Officers subsequently entered Braun’s room by key and observed that he was obviously deceased.
