Empty Stocking Toy Drive Starts Saturday

Firefighters with Barrow County Emergency Services will be collecting new unwrapped toys for the annual Empty Stocking Toy Drive.

Help make Christmas merrier for Barrow County children in need by donating to the Barrow County Emergency Services (BCES) empty stocking toy drive which begins this Saturday, Nov. 23.

Firefighters and members of the Barrow County Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will be out at the Barrow Crossing shopping center near Staples from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. for the next three Saturdays collecting new, unwrapped toys.

“This event helps so many Barrow County children at Christmas time and we are honored to host it each year,” said BCES public information officer Lt. Scott Dakin in a released statement. “We also have the opportunity to meet some of our great citizens.”

All toys will be distributed through the Holiday Connection, which is operated by Family Connection Communities in Schools of Barrow County.

“We want this event to be very successful as there is a large need in Barrow County,” Dakin said. “We ask that citizens help us by dropping off the new toys or a monetary donation and let’s make sure that all the kids in Barrow County wake up to presents under the Christmas tree.”

Citizens may also drop off donations at any Barrow County Fire Station.
