The Athens Clarke County Leisure Services Department is hosting "Family Time Paddles" on select Saturdays during the summer at Sandy Creek Park.
Families can visit the park on May 12, June 9, July 21 and August 18 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 11 a.m. and enjoy paddling around the lake.
The program is for families and children ages four and older. The fee is $8 for ACC residents without a boat and $5 for residents with a boat. Non-county residents pay $12 or $8 respectively. The fee is per person, per Saturday morning paddle.

Enjoy many outdoor activities at this 7820-acre park that surrounds 260-acre Lake Chapman. Amenities include basketball courts, beach, boating, canoes and kayaks available for rent seasonally and weekends only, disc golf course and dog parks. Other available activities include athletic fields, fishing, horse trails, playground, tennis courts and walking trails. Rental facilities include picnic shelters, pavilions, community building, barbecue building, visitor's center conference room and crow's nest No. 1. Sandy Creek Park is affordable. There is a $2 park entry fee per person for ages 4 to 64. Children 3 and under and adults 65 and older get in free.
