2012 Miss Apalachee Pageant
AHS will host the 2012 Miss Apalachee Pageant on March 3. The pageant will feature an elementary level at 1 p.m., middle school level at 2:30 p.m. and high school level at 5 p.m.
The pageant is open to the public for ages 4 thru eighth grade and AHS students for ninth thru twelfth grade.
The cost to attend the pageant as a spectator is $5 per adult and $2 for children. Pageant proceeds will support the 2012-2013 AHS cheerleaders.
More About Apalachee High School
The second high school to serve Barrow County, Apalachee opened in 2000. It is currently helmed by principal David McGee, who oversees the school's faculty and more than 1,500 students.
Apalachee High School is a Title I school, meaning at least 40 percent of the total student population receives free and reduced lunches. In 2009, about 53 percent of Apalachee's students qualified for free and reduced lunch. As a Title I school, Apalachee receives special funding from the U.S. Department of Education.
