Information regarding those charged with a crime is taken directly from Barrow County Sheriff's Office reports. Arrested individuals have been charged with, but not convicted of, the above listed crimes.
The following are summaries of recent incidents or calls for assistance to which Barrow County Sheriff's Office deputies responded. A Pinecrest Road resident reported Feb. 2, 2013, that she had been to the store and when she returned home, she noticed the back door to her residence had been damaged. A deputy observed two large dents in the metal door. The resident said she had noticed strange events happening in the area and asked for extra patrols. Tenant threatens to burn rental home fixtures, ceiling fans On Jan. 8, a deputy met with an employee of a realty company who said his attempts to get one of the company’s tenants to pay January’s rent had been unsuccessful. According to an incident report, the complainant told the deputy the tenant had left a voicemail on his phone saying, “I will burn the [expletive deleted] down if you want me to.” When the deputy later spoke to the tenant, the man said he had …

Driving carefully with no license On Jan. 1, 2013, a man who was traveling 43 mph in a 65 mph zone on Ga. Highway 316 told a deputy he was driving slowly because his friend told him to drive carefully because he didn’t have a license. Jimmy Bonilla-Alvarado, 30, of Norwalk, Conn., was arrested and charged with driving without a license and window tint violation. A man walked out of Tractor Supply in Winder carrying a chainsaw he had not paid for, according to a Barrow County Sheriff's Office incident report.  An employee said she was standing at a register Oct. 19, when a male customer approached her holding a chainsaw and asked what it would cost, including tax. After she informed him of the price, she told the man she would check the back of the store for the item in a box. When she returned to the register, the customer was no longer there.  Upon reviewing surveillance video, the employee said she watched the man leave the store with the chainsaw…
Recent incidents investigated by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office include:  Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012  A Winder man was prohibited from the Kangaroo gas station in Bethlehem after an employee, his ex according to an incident report, complained he wouldn’t leave the store. The complainant said she asked the man to leave several times. The man was served a prohibited entry notice and was advised if he returned to the gas station he would be arrested and charged with criminal trespass. On Wednesday, June 8, 2011, a deputy was dispatched to a Briscoe Mill Road residence in reference to a report someone broke a window. The resident told the deputy he and everyone else in the home were going to sleep when someone broke a window on the front of the residence. The resident said he went outside but didn’t see anyone in the area. He reported seeing and chasing a male on the property an hour earlier. The deputy checked the area for any suspicious …
