I was Monica's step father from the time she was 1 1/2 to 13 years old. She was indeed a special little girl, full of happiness and life. She always loved being around her friends, laughed often, and although she was mischievous as all kids are, she had a good solid outlook on life. She wanted to live life. And she did. She always helped her family and friends all she could, and that selfless trait is what ended her life. Her Mom is in poor health, and is devastated. If there is any sense to be made of this terrible tragedy, it's that the gun control laws in the U.S. must be fixed. A wacko should not have access to weapons of any type. We need to stop listening to the NRA lobbyists and the gun nuts, and start listening to the need for the people of this nation to be safe.
