Winder Police Warn of Suspicious Man

Man reportedly followed women, offered to repair supposed flat tires for hefty fee.

The City of has received information from a local tire serviceshop of three separate incidents in recent days regarding a suspicious male. According to Mike Cain of located in Winder, there have been three senior women who visited the shop and asked to have their axles and wheels checked.

All of these women told Cain about a suspicious man who stopped them and said it looked like their right rear wheel was “wobbling.” The man reportedly told the women they could have a bent axle and offered to repair it for $325.

“One of the women said she was followed from the gas station at the and the man approached her around the intersection of State Route 8 and Horton Street in front of the ," said Cain. "The other two women said they had left the Winder Publix grocery store and were approached as they drove into town.”

The women seemed to be scared of the man but all of them refused to allow him to help. Cain told police all three of these incidents happened within the last few days and he found nothing wrong with their cars.

It is unclear as to why these women have not reported these incidents to police but Mr. Cain felt it wasnecessary to call the Winder Police and make them aware.

The suspicious man is described as a younger male with what is described as "greasy" hands. He is of unknown race but has been described as having a light complexion. One of the women involved described him as possibly being of Cuban descent but stated he did not speak with much of an accent. This man is said to be driving a newer model whitetruck, possibly a Ford and is said to approach women while driving.

The Winder Police Department is asking motorists to be aware of any activity that may resemble this type of incident. The police are making extra patrols in the areas in which these incidents have allegedly taken place and are also actively seeking any additional information that might lead them to this individual.
