Winder Police Respond to 1,078 Calls for Service and Issue 303 Citations in June

Chief of Police Dennis Dorsey gave a monthly report during Tuesday's Winder City Council meeting.

The Winder Police Department responded to 1,078 calls for service in June and completed 241 incident reports.

Chief of Police Dennis Dorsey shared those numbers with members of the Winder City Council this week.

"We continue to have a reduction in both part one and part two crimes, which we’re really proud of," Dorsey said.

Winder police completed 30 roadway accident reports, 12 private property damage reports, made 409 traffic stops and issued 303 citations and 168 warnings in June.

Dorsey also announced the department had raised a total of almost $7,000 to benefit Special Olympics Georgia

Upcoming events in which the department will be involved include a town hall meeting for the city's Zone 1 at 6:30 p.m. July 26 at the Winder Cultural Arts Center. Department staff will give a presentation on scams that target small businesses since Zone 1 is primarily made up of small businesses, Dorsey said. The presentation will also include crime statistics for that zone.

The Winder Police Department has also partnered with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office to offer an upcoming forum for members of the local Hispanic community.
