Winder Police Ask Drivers to Be Aware of Route for Today's Road Race
A fun run kicks off at 7:30 a.m., followed by a 5K at 8 and a 10K at 8:45, with runners starting and finishing at the historic courthouse.
Drivers may want to avoid the downtown Winder area this morning as the 30th annual Winder Summer's End Road Race will be taking place.
Race events will begin at 7:30 a.m. Routes for the 5K and 10K are as follows:
5K route
- Begins in front of historic courthouse on Broad Street
- Proceeds north on Broad Street
- Turns left on Lake Drive
- Turns right on Howard Circle
- Turns right on Lake Drive
- Turns left on Buena Vista Street
- Turns right on Woodlawn Avenue
- Finishes on Woodlawn Avenue behind courthouse
10K route
- Begins in front of the courthouse on Broad Street
- Proceeds north on Broad Street
- Turns slight left onto Ga. Highway 53 North in front of Barrow Regional Medical Center
- Turns left on Sims Road
- Sims Road will become St. Anthony’s Drive as runners cross over Miles Patrick Road
- Continues on St. Anthony’s where it will become Langford Street as runners cross North Fifth Avenue
- Continues on Langford Street
- Turns left on Green Valley Drive
- Turns left on Candler Street
- Turns left on Marion Street
- Turns right on North Fifth Avenue
- Turns left on Midland Avenue
- Turns right on Sixth Avenue
- Turns right on Wright Street
- Turns right on Woodlawn Avenue
- Finished on Woodlawn Avenue behind court house
