City of Winder to Unveil Monument at Public Safety Building
Residents are invited to attend a monument dedication ceremony on Sunday, Dec. 4.
The building that houses the Winder fire and police departments was named for John O. Mobley Jr. when the building was constructed in 1986.
Mobley served as mayor of Winder from 1980 to 1986.
According to Joan Mathews, the fire department's administrative assistant, the former mayor's name was never displayed anywhere in the building.
A recently-delivered monument that will be unveiled during an upcoming ceremony will change that oversight — the public is invited to attend a dedication ceremony at at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 4. For more information, call the Winder Fire Department at 770-867-3212.
