Winder-Barrow Middle School Student Builds Outdoor Classroom at Statham Elementary for Scout Project
Pursell and his fellow Troop 789 scouts completed the project during their spring break, according a story posted by the Athens Banner-Herald.
A former Statham Elementary School student now attending Winder-Barrow Middle has built an outdoor classroom for an Eagle Scout project, the Athens Banner-Herald reports.
Will Pursell, 14, now an eighth-grader, has left a lasting impression of his former elementary school — the newspaper reports the outdoor classroom is handicap accessible and can seat 30 students.
The inspiration for the project came from Pursell's fifth-grade Scope teacher, Diane Windham, who often talked about having an outdoor classroom to use, according to the story. Pursell and his fellow Troop 789 scouts completed the project during their spring break.
