Stolen Washing Machine Still Contained Wet Clothes
The theft was reported May 25.
A Winder resident recently reported a washing machine and dryer stolen. Adding insult to injury, the washer still had wet clothes inside when it was taken and had been borrowed from a friend.
The theft was reported May 25. The Bowman Mill Road resident told a deputy with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office that the washer and dryer went missing while she was attempting to move.
The appliances were valued at $2,000.
On May 24, a deputy responded to an East Wright Street location in reference to a report of a suspicious person at a vacant house for sale.
Upon arrival, the deputy spoke with a naked male who said he and his wife were staying in the vacant home while on vacation from France. The naked male showed the deputy a house key and his wife provided a contact number for the owner of the property, who was allowing them to stay in the house.
An incident report did not say why the man was naked or if the deputy asked him to put on any clothing while he was questioned.
