Statham Resident Reports Hearing Explosions
Barrow County Emergency Services personnel were unable to find the source of any of the reported noises.
A resident of Dooley Town Drive in Statham reported hearing an explosion of some kind Wednesday, March 6, and again Sunday, March 10.
"We also felt it as it shook my house," the resident wrote in an e-mail to Barrow Patch. "The neighbors and even people from the next street over heard and felt the same thing."
Barrow County Emergency Services' Public Information Officer Scott Dakin said department personnel responded both days.
"On both occasions no citizens could tell exactly where the noise came from and nothing was found by fire and law enforcement," Dakin wrote in an e-mail.

We live off of Thurmond Road, and also felt the explosions on Sunday. There were two of them, approximately an hour apart, in the afternoon. There was a loud boom, followed by a shock wave that could be felt through the ground and actually shook the house a little. We also could not identify where they were coming from, but I would generalize that they were West of us.
It felt much like an explosion at a quarry. We even speculated perhaps the railroad was doing something.

We heard them as well, but didn't pay any attention to them since our neighbors have a habit of setting off explosions.

I heard it, it shook the crib. Keep them coming.
