Should the Federal Government Ban All Cell Phone Use While Driving?
Would you support federal legislation banning any form of cell phone use while driving anywhere in the United States?
Last week U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood reportedly said traffic accidents as a result of cell phone use constitute a national epidemic.
Reuters reports that LaHood called on Congress to ban all forms of cell phone use, be it talking or texting, on U.S. roads. These comments were reported from a distracted driving summit that LaHood was addressing in Texas.
However, many people use this time during long commutes to and from work to return business calls or to speak to family and friends they are otherwise often too busy to talk to.
