Second Suspect Arrested, Facing Charges in Connection with Death of Winder Teen
The Barrow County Sheriff's Office says a Flowery Branch man, arrested Thursday, and a former Winder-Barrow Middle School teacher, who was arrested March 6, assisted the victim via cell phone in obtaining a controlled substance.
A second suspect has been arrested and is facing charges in connection to the recent death of a Winder teen.
The Barrow County Sheriff's Office says 25-year-old Terry Littleton of Flowery Branch assisted the victim, via cell phone, in obtaining a controlled substance prior to her death. He is charged with criminal attempt to distribute a controlled substance and use of a communication facility in commission of a criminal attempt to distribute a controlled substance.
The teen was found dead at her Winder residence Feb. 14. A former Barrow County teacher, 37-year-old Emily Susan Smith, was arrested March 6 and is charged with reckless conduct, criminal attempt distribution of a controlled substance and use of a communication facility in commission of a criminal attempt to distribute a controlled substance.
According to an earlier news release by the Barrow County Sheriff's Office, the female victim, whose name is being withheld, was allowed to supervise Smith's minor child while Smith, who was employed as a sixth-grade math teacher at Winder-Barrow Middle School at the time, attempted to obtain the controlled substance.
The investigation into the teen's death is ongoing.
Barrow County Schools Superintendent Wanda Creel said in an e-mail March 7 that Smith was no longer employed with the school system.

Kudos to our BC sheriffs for catching them. What a sad commentary on the evils that occur due to drug use. Too bad and so sad that this teen had to die because of this blight on our society.
