The city of Statham is pleased to offer competitive youth tackle football and competitive cheerleading for local youth aged 4 through 13 thanks to the new Barrow County association, Statham Spartans Sports.
Spaces still remain for the upcoming season, but those who are interested will need to hurry — registration closes this Friday, July 13.
Registration can be completed securely online at the Statham Spartans website with a credit card or a Paypal account. Regular registration costs are $80 for football and $130 for cheerleading. Costs include game day uniforms. Discounts are available for military families, as well as families who wish to enroll multiple children in the program. Registration for the Statham Spartans is open to all residents in and around Barrow County.
Statham Spartans Sports is part of the Georgia Elite Youth Football League. Even though the Spartans are considered a "travel team," all games will be played in the Statham-Athens area. Practices will be held at the Winder VFW on Lee Street from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. The first game is scheduled to take place Aug. 4, and the season runs through mid- to late November.
In addition to players and cheerleaders, the association is also currently recruiting coaches, team moms and board members for the upcoming season. For more information, please visit the Statham Spartan website or call association founder and president Tim McDaniel at 404-790-4406.
