One of Three Suspects in Recent Armed Robbery in Custody

Two other suspects in the Aug. 8 armed robbery are still at large.

A suspect in a recent armed robbery in Winder was apprehended Tuesday evening.

According to Winder police, Nicholas Brandon Williams was found in the DeKalb County area and is currently being held at the Barrow County Detention Center. Williams is also wanted in connection to a strong arm robbery that occurred July 29 in Winder.

Two other suspects in the Aug. 8 armed robbery are still at large.

Based on information received by authorities, police say 23-year-old Williams and a black male who had not yet been identified entered an apartment on Apperson Drive in Winder belonging to an acquaintance of Williams. The two men and the victim spoke for several minutes before the unknown suspect reportedly pulled out a gun, put it in the victim's face and tried to get Williams to restrain the victim with duct tape. Williams did not restrain the victim but instead searched the home while the other male held the victim at gun point. The two men fled the scene after stealing $1,100 in cash and the victim’s cell phone.

The victim was holding a 1-year-old child at the time of the robbery and attempted to chase the suspects while still carrying the child. The victim said the suspects sped away in a light grey, four-door car, possibly a newer model Malibu or Monte Carlo. Police identified the driver of the vehicle as 33-year-old Antonio Lemont Cain.

Anyone with information on the two suspects still at large is asked to call Detective Gregg Teatino at 770-867-2156 or 770-307-3064.

According to docket book records from the Barrow County Sheriff's Office, Williams was arrested and charged with probation violation, simple battery (family violence) and illegal possession of a controlled substance in January, driving while license withdrawn and hit and run in October 2011 and possession of marijuana and possession and use of drug-related objects in September 2011.
