More Than a Dozen Residents Complete CERT Course

Fifteen students recently completed an 8-week disaster preparedness course offered by the Barrow County Community Emergency Response Team.

The Barrow County Community Emergency Response Team continues to grow — 15 students recently completed an 8-week disaster preparedness course. 

"We are very excited that we continue to have people wanting the training," Mike Wilson, CERT president, said in a news release.

The latest class met once a week every Thursday night and was taught by CERT
members, personnel and employees with the .

This course educates residents in disaster preparedness for hazards that may impact the Barrow area and trains students in basic disaster response skills, including fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.

This course is designed to train participants to assist others when 911 professional responders are not immediately available to help.
