A deputy with the Barrow County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to an Oakdale Drive residence in Auburn June 17 in response to a reported dispute.
Upon arrival, the deputy made contact with the compainant and noticed his nose was bleeding and his shirt was torn in the back with a stretched collar. When the deputy asked what happened, the man said he had fallen while walking toward the road. The deputy noticed when the man attempted to speak he had slurred speech and a strong odor of alcoholic beverages coming from his breath.
The deputy then spoke with the resident, who said the man had been standing at the edge of her driveway arguing with her daughter before her daughter left walking.
The deputy again approached the compainant and asked why he was arguing with his girlfriend. When the man said he wasn't, the deputy explained that he knew the man hadn't fallen down and busted his nose. The complainant then admitted to arguing but didn't know why and said there was a group of friends and he "scrapped with one."
The deputy explained that he already knew there was no group of friends and that it was just him and his girlfriend, advising the man to try again and tell him what happened. The man said that during the argument his girlfriend told him if he loved her to let her to punch him in the nose, and that since he loved her, he let her punch him.
The man refused medical treatment for the bloody nose and said he did not want to press charges against his girlfriend.
After searching the property, the deputy was unable to find the girlfriend and the mother said she would drive the complainant to his home in Monroe and that she didn't want him to come back.
