Man Facing Battery Charges after Deputies Say He Hurled Motorcycle Helmet at Co-worker

A Winder man has been charged with two counts of battery after throwing a motorcycle helmet and striking a co-worker in the head, according to a Barrow County Sheriff's Office incident report.
The altercation, which occurred at a business on Pickle Simon Road in Winder, reportedly stemmed from an argument over the suspect missing work. The victim told deputies he was sitting at his desk when the man entered his office. The victim said that as the suspect threw the motorcycle helmet, he turned his head and was struck. The two then reportedly began fighting and the suspect punched the victim in the left ear before they were separated by two other employees.
Deputies observed a visible injury behind the victim's left ear and the victim was bleeding from a cut on the back right side of his head. There was blood on the office floor and on a chair, and a power outlet cover was broken.
A deputy was able to stop the suspect as he was traveling on his motorcycle. The suspect advised he and the victim had an argument and that it had been physical but, according to the incident report, he was initially very vague and general in his explanation. The suspect denied striking the victim with his helmet but advised he punched the victim after he was pushed. The deputy then checked out the suspect's helmet and observed a fresh, white paint transfer on the helmet. The suspect initially said he might possibly have thrown the helmet but did not throw it at the victim, and then said he threw it just past the victim, missing by a couple feet. The suspect then said the victim was sitting, contradicting his previous statement that the fight began when he was pushed.
According to the incident report, the only visible injury on the suspect was an abrasion on his right knuckle that corresponded with both statements and the injury to the victim's left ear.
The suspect, 30-year-old Corey Bramlett of 419 Camden Drive in Winder, was arrested and charged with two counts of battery.
The charges fall under the category of family violence as deputies determined Bramlett and the victim have lived together for about two years.
