Local Teens Recognized by State Organization

Two local students have been recognized by the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities.

Two local students have been recognized by the Georgia Council on Developmental Disabilities.

Sara Cole and Kristin Womack, both students at , have been named 2011 Advocates of the Year for the council.

Cole and Womack were two of six Georgia teens recognized. These students participated in Partnership for Success, a program that emphasizes a student’s ability to make important life decisions beginning in high school and provides the opportunity for students with disabilities to participate in activities that enhance their educational experience and foster the development of leadership skills.

“Our honorees … are wonderful examples of PFS principles,” Cindy Saylor, program manager for Partnerships for Success, said during the council’s annual appreciation ceremony. “These PFS students have built friendships while serving their communities, and earned the respect of their school counselors.”
