The grounds of the historic courthouse in downtown Winder look a little different today.

On Tuesday, Aug. 21, a diseased tree was removed from in front of the building. The county's planning department said the tree was a danger. 

A Facebook user, Wanda Martin Browning, posted to Barrow Patch's Facebook page Monday, writing, "It is very sad to see that beautiful tree has died and is being removed from the old courthouse grounds today. How did that happen?"
