Winder Residents Can Now Keep an Eye on Crime

The city website gives residents a link to view reported crimes in their area.

The city of Winder has joined forces with CrimeReports.com to help keep its residents informed of incidents of crime in their area.

By visiting the city of Winder website and clicking on either Police Department under the header of “Public Safety” or Online Police Crime Reports under the header of “Services”, guests of the site can get a snapshot of crimes reported within their city. For a wider view of the city, simply click full view.

Through CrimeReports.com, visitors are able to view crimes committed within the last three, seven, 14 or 30 days — or they can select their own custom range. They can also customize their search by the types of crimes reported, including breaking and entering, homicide, robbery, theft of vehicle, assault and property crime, among others.

Of particular interest to concerned parents and local women, CrimeReports.com also lists the names, addresses and — when available — photos of registered sex offenders living in and around the city of Winder. With the simple click of a button, residents can even submit a tip about a crime. This online tool proves an excellent, interactive way for residents to keep an eye on crime within their own neighborhood and surrounding municipalities.

NORCROSS -- Sheriff's Department authorities are investigating an alleged shyster who ripped off a Gwinnett dignitary and longtime school board member after being contracted for tree services.

#Victimized in the June transaction was Louise Radloff, 76, a Gwinnett Public Schools board member of nearly 40 years -- among the longest tenures in Georgia -- once named the county's "Citizen of the Year," officials said.

#Jackson County resident Edward Nelson, 46, is accused of ripping off Radloff for $900, according to his arrest warrant. Nelson remained at large Wednesday. Radloff could not be reached for comment.

#"We're looking at the possibility that there are other victims of this particular scam as well," said Sheriff's Department spokeswoman Stacey Bourbonnais.
