Is the Bethlehem Area at 316 and 81 the 'New Winder'?

The Barrow Journal reports several new businesses will open in a planned retail center.

There's no doubt the area around the intersection of Ga. highways 316 and 81 is growing and is ripe for even more development.

The Barrow Crossing shopping center is well-established with a Publix supermarket, a Target store and other retailers. Gateway Cinemas 12 attracts movie-goers to the area, and Chick-fil-A is always a popular choice for dining.

But is this area the "new Winder"?

The Barrow Journal reports several businesses will open in a 14,000-square-foot planned retail center — Gateway Station — near the theater, including a sports bar, a pizza place and a music “listening room” offering live performances.

What do you think the growth at the intersection of Ga. highways 316 and 81 in Bethlehem will mean for the Winder area? Tell us in comments.

Great, we want a Waffle house also and a Quick Trip to be added to the area.

The Waffle House is definitely going to happen. My husband is a DM for the company and says it's a go for sure.

Why is no one saying what the store next to Belk is? I heard TJ Maxx, I contacted them and they said they aren't opening a store in Bethlehem......Why is it so hush hush? I can't find any info in the paper about it....

Cindy, I also contacted TJMaxx and was told there is no store coming to the area. I will contact the county tomorrow and try to find out what's coming in there. I'm curious, too.

Thank you Deanna. I'm seeking employment so that's why I wanted to know.

Before I commented on here, I had emailed TJ Maxx and I just got a reply that they are opening a store in August. The problem was that I asked about "Bethlehem". They said "Winder". When I looked up the addresses for the other stores in Barrow Crossing, it says Bethlehem......

It is definitely TJ Maxx. Here is a link to the construction company's Facebook posting announcing it. http://www.facebook.com/collinsandarnold/posts/307563195946935

It will probably become the "new" Winder the same as Scenic Hwy. became the new Snellville.

I'll be glad when construction begins and end for the Gateway Station shopping center on 316. It will definitely bring revenue, jobs, and increase the home value in the area. And yes, we definitely need a QT!!!!!
