First Gateway Station Business Set to Open March 4

The first business to open inside Gateway Station, a 14,000-square-foot development along Ga. Highway 316, is set to welcome patrons in March.
Wayne Bartlett with Maynard and Bartlett Realty Group in Winder said Top Dawg Tavern, a sports bar, is scheduled to open March 4. The business will be joined inside the development by a podiatrist's office, a nail salon, a mattress and furniture store and a Mexican restaurant.
The podiatrist, Dr. Jonnica Dozier, signed a lease for suite 200 last year.
Bartlett said that while plans for a Longhorn Steakhouse location in the area have been pushed back, he still expects the restaurant to build at the Gateway site.
"(Eight to 10) serious retailers/restaurants are in talks with us now," Bartlett said in an e-mail.
A total of 160 acres along Exchange Boulevard are earmarked for grocery, retail, restaurant, office and medical space within Gateway at University Parkway. Bartlett confirmed in October a Varsity restaurant will be built in front of the movie theater, Gateway Cinemas 12.

We would like to have a Kroger with a gas station and a nice restaurant other than a Chinese or Mexican restaurant. We have so many of these types of restaurants. How about a nice deli with fresh salads and vegetables.

Barrow has enough Mexican restaurants, Appleby's, Longhorns,or Chilli's and Kroger would be a nice addition, I would also like to see a Ross or Marshall's in our area.

Agree, it's time for Barrow to get a Kroger's, somewhere, anywhere. Would be a great to get a Longhorn or Chili's near the theater too. Barrow needs alot more than retail jobs though, but that's for another discussion. They also need to consider widening Highway 81 near 316 though or traffic will get unbearable and that will hurt business.

Andrew that is so true about 81, it should have been done 20 years ago all the way up to 29. Maybe when they put in the overpasses they can fix all this at once.

I would like if we had: a Kroger w/ gas station, New Balance Shoes, Red Lobster, Quik-Trip, IHOP, Victoria Secrets, Bath & Body. Barrow could also use some additonal family entertainment such as, a Bowling Alley,Dave & Busters, or a Recreational park with a walking trail and sports field for outdoor activities.

I ate at Top Dawg Tavern today and had the Texas cheese steak sandwich. The meat was dry, the fries were cold and there was very little cheese on the sandwich. Go for the atmosphere but not for the food.

Also, after being enticed into ordering my grandson a chocolate milkshake, we were informed that Top Dawg Tavern was out of chocolate syrup indicative of poor management and poor staff communication. However, as before, the atmosphere was good.
