Three Arrests Made at Winder Residence Where Drugs, Guns and Cash Seized

Almost 10 pounds of marijuana, with an estimated street value of approximately $20,000, was seized.

A search warrant executed at a Winder residence by the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Crime Task Force about 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, resulted in three arrests.

Investigators were looking for controlled substances, along with other contraband, at 413 E. Midland Ave. Almost 10 pounds of marijuana was seized, with an estimated street value of approximately $20,000.   Approximately $3,000 in U.S. currency was also found, along with two firearms, a shotgun and a .38 revolver, which had been stolen in Walton County.

Two occupants, 55-year-old Charles McDaid and 29-year-old Darrell Jackson were arrested, as well as Mario Peters, 22, of Statham.

The search warrant stemmed from a tip investigators have received that drugs were being sold at the residence. After placing the location under surveillance, investigators were able to find probable cause for the warrant.

According to a news release, when the Barrow County Sheriff’s Office S.W.A.T. team entered the residence, Peters and Jackson jumped through a glass window attempting to escape but were both apprehended immediately.

McDaid is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, possession of schedule IV narcotics, felony theft by receiving, possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime and possession of drug-related objects.

Jackson is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute, felony theft by receiving, possession of a firearm during commission of a crime, possession of a firearm by convicted felon and obstruction of an officer.

Peters is charged with felony possession of marijuana, possession with intent to distribute and obstruction of an officer.
