Barrow County Deputies Searching for Inmate Who Walked Away from Work Detail

The sheriff's office is searching for the inmate in the area of area of Tom Miller Road between Ga. Highway 81 South and Haymon Morris Road. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.

 

UPDATE: As of 5:50 p.m. the inmate had not been located. Deputies were still in the area searching and following up on leads. 

Deputies with the Barrow County's Sheriff's Office are in the area of Tom Miller Road between Ga. Highway 81 South and Haymon Morris Road searching for an inmate.

According to a Facebook post, the inmate was part of a work detail crew cutting grass on county property and walked away. 

The inmate is identified as Ross Eugene Hilmo. He is a white male, 5'10" and weights about 180 pounds. He has brown hair and a slight beard. He was in custody for the sale of narcotics at the time. He was last seen wearing an orange Barrow County inmate jumpsuit and black boots. He did not have any weapons when he walked away from the detail. 

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of this inmate is asked to call 911.

According to docket book information, Hilmo was arrested in August and charged with the sale of a schedule I or II controlled substance. He was previously arrested in May and charged with failure to appear and in November 2011, charged with driving without a valid license and failure to maintain lane
