Auburn Invites Residents to 'Bring One for the Chipper'

The city offers a solution for what to do with that live Christmas tree when the holidays are at an end.

Nothing beats the scent of a live Christmas tree — its heavenly aroma permeates the rooms of your home and the memories of your family members.

For many, it’s just not Christmas without a real tree, while others look to artificial trees for the easy-assembly, pre-lit convenience to fit their busy lives. When trying to make the decision between an artificial tree and a live tree leading into the holidays, disposal may be top of mind for many.

Well that decision just became a great deal easier thanks to the friendly elves at Auburn City Hall. The city of Auburn invites residents and neighbors to “Bring One for the Chipper” from 8 a.m. to noon Dec. 26, 2011, through Jan. 7, 2012.

In the ultimate act of recycling, live trees will be chipped into mulch on Sixth Street behind Auburn Elementary School. The best part is, there is no cost associated with this service. For more information, call city of Auburn assistant clerk Charlotte Ewing at 770-963-4002 ext. 223 or e-mail your questions to cewing@cityofauburn-ga.org.
