Candidates Qualify to Run in Local Primaries

The deadline to register to vote in the July 31 general primary election is July 2.

 

The following candidates have qualified to run for office in their respective political party's general primary election July 31. 

The winners will vie for the respective offices during the Nov. 6 General Election.

  • June Davis — Republican (i)
  • Monica Hunter Durden — Republican 

Sheriff

  • Jud Smith — Republican (i)
  • James Vernard Scott Sr. — Democrat 

County commissioner, District 1

  • Jerry Lampp — Republican 
  • Joe Goodman — Republican 

County commissioner, District 2

  • William J. "Bill" Brown — Republican 
  • Kenny Shook — Republican 

County commissioner, District 3

  • Steve Worley — Republican (i)
  • Johnny C. Smith — Democrat 
  • Scott Vickery — Republican 

Barrow County Board of Education, District 8 (At large) 

  • Mitch Churchill — Republican (i) 
  • Rushia M. Cooper — Democrat
