The University of Georgia's Police Bomb Squad was called out to a Winder residence on Aug. 11 to evaluate suspected explosive devices.

Officers with the Winder Police Department discovered the devices when responding to a report of a verbal dispute at a Colonial Hills Road residence. According to an incident report, the suspect, 48-year-old Ronald Ellington had been arguing with his mother and step-father. When police were at the residence, they found the devices, which Ellington said were fireworks from which he had removed the paper wrapping and altered their functioning to shoot in a strait direction. 

Ellington was arrested and charged with possession of destructive devices.
