With about 18 percent of Barrow County's registered voters showing up at the polls Tuesday, 71.88 percent of those voters — 4,361 — said no to the proposed transportation sales tax referendum, according to unofficial results. 

Voting yes to TSPLOST were 1,706 voters, about 28.12 percent of ballots cast. 

With absentee and advance voting, the number of votes against TSPLOST increased to 5,747, or 70.76 of votes, while the number of votes in favor was 2,375, or 29.24 percent.
