There are holidays to honor historical figures — Martin Luther King Jr., George Washington, American presidents, Jesus and others — and then there's a day set aside to honor a mythological lumberjack of lore. That's right, today is Paul Bunyan Day.
A hero is American folklore and popularized in newspapers across the country in 1910, Paul Bunyan is usually described as a giant and a lumberjack of unusual skill. He is often accompanied by his animal companion, Babe the Blue Ox.
