Now Middle and High School ride the same bus! How is that going to work with school starting and ending at the same time?

Yes this is something Wanda Creel would sneak in without parental feedback! Just like the re-zone, we had no say and she could care less! Our kids deserve someone who cares about what's best for them instead of what is best for her!! Pathetic!

I find this crazy. My son will be going to middle school next year and from the way this is he will have to be at school sooner than he already is now. That is not acceptable. Their is NO reason for school to start that early in the morning. I am so sick of this school system it is pathetic. Bramlett Elem has some of the rudest faculty there as it is but nothing is done about that. Now this??? I believe I will be investing in a home school tutor...

All I can say is that those elementary students will be waiting well after the bell rings in the afternoon. -f the middle and high get out at 2:50 there is no way the buses can drop them off in time to make it to the elementary at 3:30. There are going to be some very unhappy parents not to forget about all the employees getting a pay cut!

I think this will be better after everyone gets in to it. The older kids will get home first the way it should have been.... NO AFTERSCHOOL for my youngest!!!!! I'm happy... Her last year in elementary! Older kids need to get up early, so they get see how it is to get up and go to work someday. Right now my youngest gets on bus at 6:18 a.m. and i pick her up around 5p.m. or after some days too long of a day for a 11 yrs. old!!!

Studies actually showed that teenage brains work better later in the morning and later at night, so I do not see how having them go to school even earlier than they do right now will really be better for them.

The three month summer break will not help students either. Asking teachers and students to do the same work load in less time is absurd. This is not for improving education but for saving money.

This is new to me. I'm not sure how I feel about this and would like to see the research-based studies used in this decision. I have seen better research results on year-round school and student achievement in the areas of student achievement and overall well-being. Think about compacted night classes adults take and how continuous extended time impacts meaningful learning. Early childhood, early-childhood, pre- and adolescent minds and bodies are going to have big adjustments that will be overcome BUT at what price? I am praying that there are well-grounded considerations in this for the overall well-being of children in our community. I am imagining the grumpy and tired school staff as well. Yikes!!! Big time prayers for our public school system in the community we live. I concur with R. Shane Calvert as well as recommend the school system reveal the research-based findings in how this will help student achievement. It would help me digest what my child will have to face next year as a 6th-grade student. He is now bringing home the trickle-down- effect about the new school construction where he will attend 2 physical schools next year for his 6th-grade year. I do reassure him this will be okay and could be a fun challenge. He is now anticipating a freshness to his 1st middle-school year. I pray that a substantial transition plan will be published so that our community can be informed to prepare our children with vital family support.

So far, Wanda Creel has done nothing but change things without notice or consideration of the parents in Barrow County. While I appreciate that I hear things on the patch, I should have been hearing this from the school system first.

I don't have a problem with this. We will adapt and make the necessary changes. As long as my child is on track curriculum wise and being challenged I can deal with a change in our routine. Other counties have implemented this and it seems to work fine. They will never be able to make everyone happy. I wish more parents were worried about what the schools feed our children than what time their days start and end.

If it weren't for Facebook and Barrow Patch, I would not be given the schedule until school actually starts. We need time to prepare for a change in schedules. Wanda pay attention!
