A South Carolina man was arrested Tuesday, Aug. 28, by Barrow County Sheriff’s Office Task Force investigators. Officials say he traveled to Barrow County with the intention of having sexual relations with strangers he believed to be a mother and her 8-year-old daughter. Even though an alleged parent was the person chatting in this particular case, children themselves remain vulnerable to online predators, a news release reads. The sheriff’s office encourages all parents to monitor their children’s Internet activity, including chat logs, history of sites visited, social networking sites, etc. Any suspicious activity should be reported to law enforcement.

It can be hard getting your kid to understand why he has to do these things. I think that a tool to block certain sites and monitor your kids activity on the computer, including social media websites is useful. I have been using Qustodio (http://www.qustodio.com/) for a couple of months and I was impressed on how easy it is to configure and use.
