Barrow County Emergency Services Says Home Destroyed by Blaze

Two adults were displaced as a result of the Monday evening fire.

At 7:53 p.m. Monday, Feb. 4, 2013, communication officers with Barrow County Emergency Services received a 911 call reporting a structure fire in the 200 block of Ballast Trail.

“Upon arrival of firefighters we found a home that was heavily involved in fire,” Battalion Chief Rob Nowakowski said in a news release. “Due to the amount of fire we went into a defensive mode and fought the fire from outside the home.”

Engine 1, Engine 6, Med 1 and Battalion 1 were dispatched to the location.

Two adults were displaced by the fire, and the American Red Cross responded to assist. The cause of the blaze is under investigation by the department’s Fire Investigation Team.
