There is nothing quite like the addition of a dog or cat — or both — to a family to enhance the happiness of a home.
From belly scratches and games of fetch to sandpaper kisses and the motorboat hum of a satisfied purr, a pet can become a “bone”-afied member of the family within a mere matter of days. Imagine the looks on your children’s faces when they find a new dog or cat under their Christmas tree this year.
When adopting a pet from Barrow County Animal Control, that person isn’t just acquiring a gift for his or her family — they are also giving the gift of life. The sad truth is dozens of dogs and cats must be euthanized each month by the local animal control shelter. The staff and volunteers would much rather see to it that each of these animals finds a happy home.
To inquire about adoptions from Barrow County Animal Control — located at 616 Barrow Park Drive in Winder — call 770-307-3012. All adoption fees are as low as $100 and include spay/neuter, vaccinations, microchipping and a physical exam. The shelter is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and is closed to the public Wednesdays, Saturdays, Sundays and holidays. Hurry! That means there are just two days left for you to find the perfect holiday gift for your family, as well as the perfect home for Fido and/or Fluffy!
In the event you miss this small window of opportunity amidst all of the holiday rush, keep in mind that a pet is the ideal gift, no matter the time of year.
