In Focus is a weekly photographic exploration of a particular subject. This week, photographer Kate Awtrey spent time exploring light and darkness through a camera lens.

Typically when you see neon signs all lit up in town you don't think "beauty," but this week Patch went out to prove that beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

We experimented with lights against a sunset background and against a pitch black night sky. We shot at different angles to give you a different perspective of the mundane.
