Bartow County Sheriff's Office deputies say one of the people involved in a Tuesday domestic dispute fired in their direction numerous rounds from an automatic weapon.
According to the incident report, police responded to the Adairsville home about 10 p.m. after a verbal fight between a man and his girlfriend made the girlfriend’s brother, James Mark Agan, 56, angry. All three were intoxicated.
As the boyfriend, who said he feared for his life, gathered his things to leave his home for the night, deputies heard 10 to 20 shots from a high-powered rifle originate from the home, about 100 yards away, the report said. Police later found a Rock River Arms AR-15 on top of a washer and dryer in the home and 19 spent .223 rounds in the front yard.
Agan was charged with three counts of aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and discharging a firearm while under the influence of alcohol.
