FBI Captures ‘Dreaded Bandit’ and Armed Robbery Crew With Help From Austell Police — South Cobb Patch

The FBI was able to arrest four men, including one known as the "Dreaded Bandit," suspected of being part of an armed robbery crew, in Austell on Sept. 7, because of a traffic stop by an Austell police officer.

Sgt. Robert Sfreddo, conducted a traffic stop after receiving reports that these individuals were acting in a suspicious manner at the PNC Bank, located at 2913 Veterans Memorial Parkway in Austell.

The suspects were driving a silver Buick Park Avenue, which officers knew as the vehicle described in an earlier area bank robbery.

'Catching Fire' Currently Filming on Secret Atlanta-Area Set — Cumming Patch

Fans of the Hunger Games will be happy to hear — if they don't already know — that their favorite characters are traipsing around a secret filming location right here in the metro-Atlanta area.

The popular book trilogy began shooting the sequel to its spring blockbuster locally, Sept. 10, according to 11Alive. Although, no one is allowed to say exactly where the stars are filming, several confirmed cast members have uploaded Atlanta-centric pictures and statuses via social media.

$1.1B Bus System Service Proposed — Midtown Patch

The Cobb County Board of Commissioners were briefed on the progress of a transit alternatives analysis presented by Connect Cobb, a project of the Cobb County Department of Transportation, during their Tuesday morning meeting in Marietta.

The presentation outlined several different mass-transit scenarios, including light rail, express service in HOV or managed lanes on Interstate 75, and a bus rapid transit (BRT) proposal.

Connect Cobb projects the economic impact of their $1.1 billion bus system plan to be significant; the group believes the transportation initiative would spur the creation of 1.2 million square feet of new retail space, 11,000 new housing units and the creation of more than 50,000 jobs in the area.
