Bomb Threats in Canton — Canton-Sixes Patch

No explosive devices were found during sweeps of the Cherokee County Justice Center and the Historic Courthouse that followed bomb threats received June 5.

Just before 11 a.m. Tuesday morning, a man called Atlanta 911 from a pay phone. The person said there was a bomb at the Cherokee County Justice Center. Cobb County 911 later received a call indicating there was a bomb at the courthouse.

The major streets around Canton's downtown square were closed as agencies, some from as far as Fulton and Gwinnett Counties, searched both buildings.

Fund for Dog Rescued After Being Hit on I-75 Exceeds $8K — East Cobb Patch

The Marietta woman who helped rescue a dog hit by a tractor-trailer on Interstate 75 asked for public donations to help pay for his recovery.

Patch talked to Dana Wachsmann in April about her fundraising efforts for Gravitt, a likely stray who was named after the Marietta police officer who rushed the animal to emergency veterinary care.

Several operations, including surgery to reattach the dog's pelvis to its spine, came to an estimated $7,500. Wachsmann contacted Patch this week to report that more than $8,000 in donations has been received for Gravitt's medical care.

White Water Amusement Park Crime Spree Ends in Ride to Jail — Marietta Patch

Amanda Young, 27, of Marietta and Xavier Ransom, 18, of Marietta were arrested in a theft crime spree that involved 10 victims over a three-day period at the Six Flags White Water amusement park.

Both suspects were stealing valuables from unattended bags at the theme park while the victims were on rides, according to Marietta Police.

About $2,700 worth of stolen property was returned to the victims.  Approximately $2,500 of property was purchased with stolen credit cards, of which $400 of the property was recovered.
