Call for Entries for Georgia Council for the Arts Exhibit

  • July 11, 2012

The Office of the Governor and the Georgia Council for the Arts announce a call for entries for "The Art of Georgia: Celebrating Georgia's Landscapes and People," an exhibit that will showcase current work of contemporary artists and hang in the executive offices of the State Capitol.

This is the first art exhibit hosted by Georgia Council for the Arts and demonstrates the agency's effort to support Georgia's talented pool of individual artists.

The initial call for work deadline, from artists who reside in the northeast region of the state, is July 20, 2012. Artwork will be sought and selected regionally over a two-year time frame, with work from each area on display for six months.

Entries must explore the theme of Georgia's natural and cultural heritage, its landscapes and its people. Two-dimensional visual artwork in media that includes painting, drawing, photography, printmaking and mixed media will be considered.

This is not a juried competition and prizes will not be awarded. However, the selected artwork will receive exposure on a state level to the wide variety of visitors who visit the Capitol, including legislators, dignitaries and tourists. Sale of the artwork selected for exhibition will also be encouraged via a digital guide on the Georgia Council for the Arts' website. Complete eligibility guidelines, including specific submission details and deadlines, are available on the Georgia Council for the Arts website.
